About Us

The Alkyon Ridge Telephone Cooperative, or ARTC, was founded in 1967 to provide telephone service to newly developed settlements in the Alkyon Ridge region of Alaska.

In the early days of the company, our primary customers were remote mines and oil & gas facilities in the northern region surrounding the village of Alkyon. We quickly expanded to directly servicing homes and commercial businesses. In 1971, we opened our first exchange in Darton, and began serving long-distance calls to this southern region.

ARTC has always been an early adopter of IT technologies. In 1994, one of our employees in the Plymouth exchange set up a 300 baud BBS System which entertained and connected tech-savvy Alkyon Ridge residents. That system is gone now, but today, ARTC brings you the leading internet technologies such as cable COAX connectivity. We are committed to the latest in telecom best practices.

As of 2016, we operate 12 exchanges over two area codes, and service thousands of customers with both voice and internet connectivity.

We are led by an executive team and four-member board of directors who recognize the importance of critical telecommunications and broadband services for rural economic development. The directors and employees are proud of ARTC's truly enviable growth record and are committed to providing its member-customers the best telecommunications and data solutions available.

Offices

Our headquarters is found in downtown Darton, co-located with the Darton telephone exchange. Here, you can sign up for service, pay your bill, ask us questions, and receive technical support.

We also operate a branch office in Alkyon. Similar services are available.
